• Do I need to take out insurance?

No you are not legally obliged to insure your scooter. we would recommend that you insure your scooter (including theft and accidental damage) using separate insurance cover which is available at an additional cost.

  • What is the warranty period?

All Mobility Hypermarket scooters are provided with a manufacturers 12 month warranty

  • Do I need to take a driving test for a mobility scooter?

No you are not legally required to take a driving test, and the majority of mobility scooters are very simple to operate.

  • Do I need to apply for a tax disc for my mobility scooter?

Most scooters with are not required to be registered with the DVLA. However, some of the larger road going versions do need to be registered for road use in the “disabled” taxation class and display a ‘nil duty’ tax disc which is free.

In order to register a road going scooter you will need to complete a V55/4 form and dend it to the DVLA, along with a certificate of newness V267 certificate which will be supplied with the scooter. Mobility Hypermarket will help you with this process when you purchase if it applies to your model of scooter.

  • How far will my scooter travel on a single charge?

This will depend on the model chosen. Most mobility scooters travel between 8 and 30 miles off a single charge, but if your route includes a lot of hills or steep inclines then this can affect the maximum distance because the scooter has to work harder and therefore uses more power.

  • What is the maximum weight capacity of a mobility scooter?

Each scooter is different so check the individual scooters specification but the heavest weight a scooter can accomodate is around 30 stone.

  • Can I charge my scooter via my car battery?

NO, do not attempt this, your car uses a 12V battery and most mobility scooters use 24V batteries.

  • Can I fit two car batteries to my scooter because they are cheaper?

No, although they may look the same, a car battery and a scooter battery are designed and built completely differently. If car batteries are used they will fail. Mobility Hypermarket can order and in some cases fit replacement batteries for your scooter.

  • How much does it cost to charge a scooter up every night?

This depends on how much you pay per unit for your electricity. The unit cost is usually found on your electricity bill. As an average, your battery charger uses approximately 1.2 units per day.

  • How often should I charge my scooter up and for how long?

Charge your scooter every day, whether you use it or not. It is quite safe to leave your vehicle for 8-10 hours for normal use and 10-15 hours for heavy use. please refer to the owners manual for charging information.

  • Will I have to build or assemble my scooter myself?

No, all of our scooters are delivered to your home fully built.

  • Are scooters difficult or expensive to maintain?
